MUMBAI: A 42-year-old man frustrated over his illness and unemployment committed suicide after killing his two children, aged six and seven, at Andheri on Wednesday.
Santosh Durga Halkar was unemployed for many months and the family depended on his wife’s income, who is working as a house maid in Singapore. “Bodies of the dead have been sent to for post mortem examination, however preliminary examination suggests that he strangulated or hung the children by the neck using nylon rope and then committed suicide using the same rope. A suicide note has also been recovered,” Police officials at the Andheri police station said.
Santosh Halkar’s wife Radha, was the sole earning member of the family, is working in Singapore as a house maid. Santosh Halkar was suffering from Diabetes and in his suicide note he states that he was frustrated due to his long illness.
